A yearly theme helps connect learning for our young students and allows us to build upon precepts previously taught. Last year, we learned about the names of God and were richly blessed by that study.
For the 2011-2012 school year, we are focusing on the theme: The Names of Jesus.
"At the name of Jesus every knee should bow...and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord." Philippians 2:10-11
The above verse is proudly displayed on this year's elementary class t-shirts and is our theme verse for chapel. The prayer of our staff is that this verse would, not just be memorized, but become real to all of us...students, parents, staff. May we invoke the name of Jesus daily, God's precious Son and our Savior.
We desire that our students not just know ABOUT Jesus, but to KNOW Him. By learning some of the names of Jesus, we can better know Him. In Scripture, a person's name told something about their nature and character. This is especially true of the names of Jesus.
For the 2011-12 school year, we have at least one chapel per month focusing specifically on a name of Jesus. Below is an overview of the names being studied this year.
• August – Introduction to Names of Jesus
• September – Light of the World
• October – Good Shepherd
• November – Bread of Life
• December – Emmanuel
• January – Prince of Peace
• February – Beloved
• March – Jehovah Shalom – The Lord Is Peace
• April – Savior
• May – Alpha and Omega
