600 Million Shoes!
That’s the average number of shoes that are disposed of annually in the United States alone. In context, that is more than the entire populations of the United States, Philippines, France, United Kingdom and Columbia, combined! When shoes get thrown into landfills, they are harmful to the environment and health because they are made of multiple parts that can take up to 80 years to decompose. As they do break down, some of those parts begin to release poisonous toxins into the air.

So, instead of creating an environmental hazard, bring your unwanted shoes to school for the National Honor Society’s Shoe Drive to benefit HEROES Week recipient, Anna’s House. Together we can raise over $1,000 for this very worthy cause.

Collection boxes are available in every campus building. Toss your shoes in them and NHS will take it from there!

MLK Day
No school for students, faculty, and staff on Monday, January 21.
